Pea coats have been receiving more recognition over the last few years and rightfully so. This classic silhouette looks chic and stylish and is suited to almost anyone, regardless of their fashion leanings.

The pea coat started life as standard issue for the navy. They are typically double-breasted, made from heavy worsted wool and usually have vertical slash pockets. They also normally have impossibly large lapels, although today's versions have slimmed down slightly in the transfer from the high seas.

If you´re wearing a dress and your trying to show off a little leg then you may want to consider a 3/4 length coat. Jeans are a different story.
